No Phones or Electronic devices are allowed. PCs will be provided at the venue.

Cheating and unfair means will be strictly punished. If caught doing so, it will result in immediate disqualification. Unless specified, searching on the internet is not allowed and will be enforced at the judges’ discretion.

Decorum must be maintained at all times. Any disturbance caused by participants will result in deduction of points.

No notes or material will be allowed inside the venue. Notepads and pens will be provided for rough work.

The event rules can be changed or interpreted at the OC and Event heads’ discretion.

Event outline

ROUND 1:
Round 1 will test basic programming and computer science knowledge. The first round shall be an online MCQ test (in school) using the Wordwall website.
A time limit will be given to answer all the questions in the wordwall.
Points will be allotted per correct answer and negative marking can be implemented at the judges’ discretion. The points of round one will be totaled and the top 4 will progress to round 2

ROUND 2:
Round 2 is to test programming and logical thinking skills. This round shall take place in a ‘Jeopardy’ format with some changes.
The Jeopardy format is a game in which 4 teams are presented with a matrix of questions of differing difficulties, namely 100 point, 200 point and 300 point questions.
The questions will be hidden and can be accessed only once. Once answered, the question cannot be used by any other team.
The order of answering goes from one team to another, where they can choose which question to answer. If they fail to answer, the question is passed onto the next team.
The categories and points for 12 questions will be displayed using a projector on a screen. Contestants can choose any available questions for 3 questions per individual.
There will be no internet connection during the second round.

Question Format:

100 - point questions will have an allotted time of 5 minutes

200 - point questions will have an allotted time of 7 minutes and 30 seconds

300 - point questions will have an allotted time of 10 minutes.

Working of event:
A timer will start when a team begins their program. They can use their lifelines (only for Round 2) in this time period. The timer is stopped when they submit their programs to the judge’s email. This time is then used for the speed score.

Lifeline System :
In Round 2, contestants can use a lifeline which corresponds to the number of points of a question.
A lifeline gives a participant the ability to connect to the internet to search for information he could use in a short period of time that shall be determined by the judges during the event.
100 - point questions get 2 lifelines
200 - point questions get 4 lifelines
300 - point questions get 6 lifelines
