Rules

  • Electronic gadgets are NOT allowed in the premises of De Jure (apart from ONE laptop per team in Round 2) Usage of electronic gadgets will result in immediate disqualification. 

  • Parliamentary language is encouraged, and use of harsh words will result in reduction of points.

  • The Judges are to receive the utmost respect and insulting them leads to reduction of points.

  • Cross talks among participants during any of the rounds are NOT permitted, which will otherwise result in reduction of points.

  • Participants are required to be in formals during all rounds.

  • Participants must conduct themselves in a dignified manner and not disrupt the flow of any of the rounds.

  • Malpractices of any kind will lead to immediate disqualification.

Event outline

  • Students can participate individually only.

  • There will be three rounds, Round 1 and Round 2 will be held on the first day and Round 3 will be held on the second day.

  • All the rounds will take place in the AV Room

  • Materials will be handed out to the participants so as to prepare for the grand finale of De Jure.

  • All study materials will be provided by the judges who would have handpicked important information suitable for the rounds keeping in mind the merit of the participants. 

  • Round 1:
    It will be a round of corporate war, where the contestants will be divided into two groups.
    This round will be an individual round, contestants will be asked questions related to topics based on corporate and constitution law.

  •  Round 2:
    Round two will be a puzzle round, where the contestants will be grouped into teams of three (teams will be selected by the judges based on their individual performance). The teams will each get eight PDFs, every PDF will contain a puzzle, which they have to solve to get the password for the next pdf.
    Note: One participant per team must bring a laptop for this round.

  • The two teams that solve a greater number of legal questions and give better solutions will be selected for  the next round.

  • Break:
    Even though the students have a break, they are not free. The next part of the event will be an evidence gathering round for which the participants can interrogate their respective clients during the break.

  • Mock Trial:
    Now there are only two teams with three participants in each team. Now, this is the final round to decide the winners and the runners.
    This round is known as ‘Mock Trial’, where the two lasting teams will be the advocates for a case. They should use the evidence, and statements of their client, which they collected during the break time. With the help of that and the judgement given after the mock trial, the winner and the runners will be decided.
    The crime case will consist of diverse topics of law, like murder, culpable homicide, death by negligence, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, UAPA act, cognizable offences, etc.
    The advocates are not just fighting a civil wrong, it will be a case revealed on the spot They should go through all the reports related to the case, analyze everything and fight for their case.
    The mock trial will start on Day 1 of the Enigma, and the next hearing of the case will be scheduled on day 2 (morning) of the Enigma.

A maximum of 1 participant can register per team (Individual participation)
